Jesmonite is hitting John Lewis

We are thrilled to announce Jesmonite is now available from John Lewis. Retailer Resin8, based near Cheltenham, have signed a deal with the retail giant to sell bespoke Jesmonite craft kits in their online store. The company, which has been in business for over 20 years and has a combined 50 years experience in working with resin, supplied the first kits to John Lewis in September – and there have already been two more orders since.

Kate Battes, Managing Director of Resin8, said: “John Lewis approached us in June as they were looking to expand their craft kit market.

“They were looking at resin but I suggested Jesmonite as it had been so popular over lockdown and we absolutely love it because of its green credentials.

“We sent them our tea-light holder kit we designed and they were over the moon, so we designed and branded three specialist Jesmonite starter kits with the John Lewis customer in mind.”

Kate believes John Lewis got in touch after Resin8 featured on Channel 4 programme Packed Lunch with Steph McGovern. If sales go well over the next couple of months, Jesmonite and Resin8 could then be stocked in flagship John Lewis stores.

“It is all very exciting and a little overwhelming to be honest,” Kate added.

“I always wanted to grow Resin8 but I never imagined it would take off in this way.

“The product is selling well and it is the perfect Christmas gift – all wrapped up nicely in a branded box ready for present giving.”

Here at Jesmonite we are delighted with this deal and believe it opens up the Jesmonite market to many more people, building on the already excellent work Resin8, as our official retailer, and our worldwide distributors are doing. Use of Jesmonite has changed over the years, starting in architecture and buildings – now swaying to more use in art and crafts. And whilst Jesmonite is still used a great deal for frontages of buildings and in building design and modelling, we have seen a huge increase in crafters using Jesmonite at their kitchen table. By making Jesmonite accessible in a retail giant like John Lewis it means parents, crafters and small businesses can simply pop it in their online basket alongside thousands of other products.

We cannot wait to see who discovers Jesmonite as a result and what they do with it – just like Kate at Resin8.

She added: “We are seeing people tag us on Instagram showing what they’ve made from the John Lewis kits and we just love seeing happy and smiling customers.

“I am so enthusiastic about what they have made, I will be scrolling through social media and see something someone has made and just think ‘I can’t believe they have done that with my products.’

“We are a small UK company with a massive heart, we are all or nothing, we put everything we have into everything we do, always, and this is another glowing example.

“For us, it is all about the customer journey, stocking the best possible products and providing the ultimate in support and care for our loyal followers. That is what keeps people coming back to us and I just know it is what will inspire people to buy the kits from John Lewis.”
