G’day to U RESIN – our latest Jesmonite reseller, based in Australia!
This third generation family business not only knows all there is to know about resin, the latest trends and setting those trends, but also makes their own resin!
And what better way to compliment an eclectic stocklist than add Jesmonite to it. So now those based on the other side of the world to the Jesmonite HQ in the UK can get their hands on Jesmonite even faster!
U RESIN provides all you need from the silicone to make the mould, to materials to cast the mould and anything you may want to use to then paint it afterwards… and they’re very excited to add Jesmonite to this list.
The love of Jesmonite
Shauna Tseronis and her daughter Alex are just two of the family members behind the brand – and Shauna said Jesmonite is the perfect fit.
“We stock what our customers are looking for or wanting, it’s a mixture of market research and the latest trends – but we keep setting the trend as well,” she said.
“Everything we sell compliments each other and Jesmonite is up there with the best.
“There are so many different things you can make with it, it is so versatile, and the fact you can demould so fast is a big bonus too.
“Jesmonite is non toxic so you can use it in the home and the colour clarity is better than anything else we’ve seen – the white is really white.”
Alex added: “It is also more accepting of other colours like acrylic paints, dyes, anything, than other products too. Another product can only have powders in it, but Jesmonite will take anything.
It’s got to be the dinky-di
“Also the strength too – it is so strong and you can make tables or plates without having to reinforce it like you do with other brands, this is really important.
“You can’t compare Jesmonite to other resins – once you use other products for perhaps cost or availability reasons, you come back to Jesmonite because nothing compares and you know it isn’t the real thing.”
Shauna’s father first started the family business in 1988. When she was little she would work with him in his home garage making artificial plants. She used to play with plaster of Paris and anything she could try, always looking to learn more about different products and what they could do.
The path was then laid for Alex to follow in the footsteps and she’s grown up living and breathing U RESIN!
Made more Jesmonite pieces in one month than anything for years
But Alex said she’d never seen her mother react the way she did when she got her hands on Jesmonite.
“We found out about it on social media when we were looking at people making homeware and got some to try ourselves,” she said.
“We did it at the kitchen table and mum made more Jesmonite pieces in one month than she has with any other product in five or six years!
“Our customers were excited too – we thought the starter kits or 3kg kits were going to be most popular, but we have sold more 35kg kits than the others. They went big!”
Becoming a reseller
Alex and Shauna travelled to Melbourne to visit the hub reseller for training – at the time they were only selling one type of Jesmonite so they wanted to take themselves there and get in front of it, learn more about it and the possibilities in architectural circles too.
It was at this time Jesmonite approached them to become a reseller themselves.
Shauna said: “We were so excited and couldn’t believe it, we weren’t expecting it at all.
“We love learning and training and putting as much information out there as possible, because when you’re working with chemicals you want to be as safe as possible, so that’s just what we aim to do for our customers with Jesmonite now too.
“We run workshops as well and because we’re resin manufacturers too, we can answer their trouble shooting questions and have a chemist on hand to help if we can’t.”
Exciting future
Currently, Jesmonite forms around 15% of U RESIN but both Shauna and Alex agree it has the potential to become about half of their family business.
They will spend 2025 going to exhibitions and spreading the word about Jesmonite to everyone in Australia, both those in creative industries and architecture too, to get more people to give it a burl!
