Vibrant colours, imaginative designs, and impressive creativity – meet our new Jesmonite brand ambassador!
Alex Marie Artistry, based in North Yorkshire, England, has gained a huge online following as people fall in love with her brightly coloured marble, terrazzo, and fusion homeware pieces.
And here at Jesmonite, we did just the same, so we’ve signed her up!
The company was launched in 2022 by Alex Sas and creates pots, trinket trays, tealight holders, book ends, vases and other handmade homewares.
The former make-up artist had worked with epoxy before but fell in love when she started using Jesmonite.
She said: “I had seen people creating with Jesmonite online in regular, natural colours and I thought it looked cool.”
“I liked the look of mat products so I thought I’d have a go – I bought a bunch of materials and started playing around with it.”
“There was a lot of trial and error, I jumped into it without looking at tutorials and I taught myself, mixing pigments to make new colours and putting other products – maybe something that’s designed for painting – into a Jesmonite mix.”
“I love to think outside the box.”
“A lot of people ask me what I use but I’m quite secretive because I spent so much time and materials to get it where I’m at – I have found my style”
“I really love creating with Jesmonite, I’m a big perfectionist so anything that goes wrong I just smash to pieces and reuse.”
And reusing is one of Alex’s business values. She hates to create waste and wants to protect the environment in any way she can through her work.
She has tubs of chips made from pouring cups in her studio in her spare room and one of her best-selling pieces is inspired by no waste – her fusion pots combining many different designs and colours into one creation.
“I loved that you can reuse every single bit of Jesmonite,” she added
“My no waste pots are one of most popular items, people love the idea of creating something out of no waste materials.”
“I also love that the colour combination changes depending on what I’m working with and what you create can be really unexpected.”
“It is good to know that I haven’t wasted anything and put anything bad into the world.”
“I also love that Jesmonite itself is nontoxic – you can be relaxed when you’re working with it, you don’t need filters and to worry about how you’re handling it, you can focus more on being creative rather than being safe.”
Alex uses gold leaf and copper leaf designs and enjoys defining the edges between the different finishes in her fusion pots.
Bright colours is one of the recognisable traits of Alex Marie Artistry. As a makeup artist Alex loved bold looks – and she is bringing that into her homeware.
Her business has exploded, growing much quicker than she imagined.
“I always doubt myself, so it was validating for me when I was asked to be a Jesmonite ambassador,” she said.
“It was a lovely surprise and I’m very excited!”
“I have worked hard in a short amount of time so it’s good to see that work being recognised.”
